Technically a 'Liberty Head' dollar, this coin is commonly called the Morgan Dollar after its designer, George T. Morgan. It has been a mainstay in coin collections for many years. First struck in 1878, this design was produced at 5 different US mints until 1921, when the new 'Peace Silver Dollar' replaced it.
